PRAISE THE LORD!!!!  I want to share with you a little story about a small church on the Westside of Columbus.  I’m very privileged to be the Sr. Pastor of this congregation.  This past summer my wife, Dawn, and I were very excited to travel to Cincinnati, Ohio for a concert by one of our favorite Christian Music artists.  We have been following Carman almost his whole music career and recently had learned about his bout with cancer.  Well, I went to his website to see what he was up to and that’s when I found that he was going to be in Cincinnati.  So I got the tickets, made the hotel reservations, and we were off.

The concert was at a “University” on the north west side of Cincinnati.  I use quotes around University because that was not where it was.  It was actually in this sports warehouse where there were jump houses, rollerblade hockey rink, game room, etc.  We had to walk through a maze to get to the back of the building to where the concert was being held.  There was excitement in the line even though there were plenty of distractions around us.  When the doors finally opened we walked into a gym that had about 200 chairs set up.  It was kind of disappointing to see that there weren’t going to be very many people.  However, Carman took the stage and 30 seconds into the concert worship started and didn’t let down for an hour and a half.  It was amazing!!!

We went back to the hotel and the next morning as we were driving back to Columbus Dawn and I were talking about the concert.  We were discussing that if Carman did a concert for 200 would he come to Columbus West Church of God?  Well, we contacted him and sure enough they were willing to come.  The leadership of the church were excited about the potential of the concert here at our church.  There seemed to be one obstacle after another, but eventually the night came.  We had 500 chairs set up.  We had helped set up the equipment that Carman needed.  People were lined up at the door.  There was standing room only and it was a great night.  I was so thrilled at our congregation, the people that stepped up, and all the hard work that went into the evening.  We are asking ourselves, “What’s next?”  Anyway, I shared all of that to let you know what Carman thought of the evening as well.  Here is a copy of what he posted on his Facebook page.

“New Changes on tour, 1st Report: I reported last week that I was changing the way we structured our concerts. Lowering the Tickets to 10.00 with a Love offering and ages 18 and under get in FREE. The first concert on this new concept in Columbus Ohio was Amazing. The place was packed. We couldn’t get anymore in if we tried. And the alter call was full. It’s just breathtaking to see a family of 5 coming down to receive Christ for the first time. We only have 3 more concerts this year. Lebanon, Ohio, Fenton, Mich and Knoxville, Tenn. So please, bring someone who doesn’t know the Lord. This could be their night. God is moving in this ministry in a big way.”

When he starts back up on tour next year and he is coming to a place near you, GO SEE HIM.  You will not be disappointed!!!!!  Until next time love to all of you and see you in church.
