Okay, so several of you have been asking what is going to happen on the Family Retreat Weekend. Well, here is a quick snapshot of what leadership is thinking about the weekend. Be mindful that we reserve the right to make changes to anything listed here without discussing it with the group, lol.
Everyone will be arriving sometime on Friday, August 29th. Upon arrival to the park and up where the cabins are located, you will need to find Pastor Rob to get the key to your cabin. More than likely he will be outside in front of a fire cooking smoores. The rest of Friday evening will be spent just hanging out and getting settled in.
Saturday–you will be on your own for breakfast. At 10 a.m. we will have a “breakout” session. Dawn will be taking the children to meet with the naturalist for all kinds of neat activities in the park. While the children are meeting together, Pastor Rob will be leading an open discussion conference. The purpose of the conference is to get to know each other better, spend time sharing God’s Word, and growing the Family of God.
Around 12 we’ll eat lunch together, which will be provided. The rest of the afternoon you are on your own. There is plenty of hiking, swimming, boating, fishing, and other activities. Around 5 we will gather at the shelter house for a “fondue” party and game night. The shelter house is located on the same road as the beach and you will be given directions. After dinner or when you want to leave the shelter house, is free time with your family or families that are staying.
Sunday, again you are on your own for breakfast. We will be meeting together around 10:30 for a time of worship. The place will be determined once we are all at the park. After worship we will gather for lunch and then you have the afternoon to spend as family. Around 5:30 or so, we will gather for a cookout and an evening vesper service at the shelter house. After the service you are again set free to spend the evening how you wish.
Monday, you will be on your own for breakfast, packing out your cabin as we have to be out by 11 a.m. We will gather at the shelter house for lunch and have one last time together as the church family before heading out for any activity you would like. You may decide to stay for the day at the park, head for home to unpack and relax before school starts and the work week starts, it is all up to you.
The point of this weekend is for us to get to know each other better, encourage each other, spend time with your family, and enjoy God’s wonderful gift to us through His creation. By no means are you going to be required to attend anything that is being presented. We are offering these “sessions” for all of us to grow together and share with one another. If you are interested in attending the weekend, please sign up at church, contact the church office, or email me. We do ask that you pay an $80 deposit to cover the first night and that you pay the other $70 upon arrival at the park. Of course you can pay for the whole thing in one payment. If you are writing a check, please make it out to the church. It is going to be a great time of being together, laughing, playing, and rejoicing in the goodness of our God.
Love all of you and looking forward to a great weekend.
Pastor Rob
