I just finished going through my Facebook “news.” Saw many posts about the snow, sports, and single people (women mostly) talking about meeting men. I know that personally, when I was in the dating phase of my life, I wasn’t looking for a man, but a good looking woman. There were many that I dated and they were all nice and we had a good time, at least I think we did. However, I kept wondering if there was that one out there that would be the perfect match for me.
Isn’t it something that we are all looking for something to fill some part of our life. Whether it is filling that hole of loneliness, or the need for material things, or just a pat on the back. We look to people to fill those spots, we look to jobs, having those families. The problem is that once we get them we end up not satisfied again. We always want more. We are never truly happy. It is sad to say, but the philosophy of mankind since the garden is “It’s all about ME!!!!!!” I want a bigger house, I want the 2.5 kids, I want the latest technology, the latest iPhone, the biggest TV with the surround sound, and the list goes on and on. There is a hole that we all have in us, a desire to belong, a desire to be accepted.
The Apostle Paul writes about this to the in Philippians; Philippians 4:19 (GW) 19 My God will richly fill your every need in a glorious way through Christ Jesus. Did you catch what he said? God will richly fill your every need. Whatever that need is!!!!! The hole that you have in your life, even as a believer, can only be filled by God. The things of this world may satisfy for a little while, but you will grow unhappy with them, they’ll break, they’ll grow up and move out of the house, they’ll get jobs and move away from you, they’ll get sick and pass away, the car will rust, the TV will stop working. But God will never leave you nor forsake you. God has been, is right now, and always will be. He isn’t going anywhere and there is nothing that can take Him off of His throne. After all He created it all and sustains it all.
I wonder today, what “hole” do you have that needs to be filled? Will you right now take a moment and give it to Him and let Him fill that spot. By the way, I did find the perfect woman. Guess what I met her at a time in my life when I wasn’t even looking because I was focused on other things. Isn’t that just how God works!?! I thank the Lord for all that He has provided, He definitely has provided all my needs in a glorious way through Jesus Christ. Love y’all and see ya Sunday.
